UNIWELD
Frequently asked questions
Common questions about UNIWELD from 3G Electric.
What is the difference between the Uniweld MRFG13 and MRFG14 flow gauge regulators?
The MRFG13 is configured for carbon dioxide service with a CGA 320 inlet connection, while the MRFG14 is for argon service with a CGA 580 inlet. Both have a 5/8"-18 female right-hand outlet and a flow range of 10–14 SCFH. The inlet connection determines the gas cylinder compatibility, so the MRFG13 fits CO2 cylinders with CGA 320 valves, and the MRFG14 fits argon cylinders with CGA 580 valves. Both are flow gauge regulators, meaning they indicate flow rate rather than delivery pressure. Selection depends on the gas being used and the cylinder valve type.
Do Uniweld torch and regulator outfits include flashback arrestors?
Some Uniweld outfits include integrated flashback arrestors, while others do not. In the 3G Electric catalog, models KV780A-1FB, KV780FB, and KV780AFB are listed with flashback arrestors. The KV780A outfit does not include them. Flashback arrestors are safety devices that prevent reverse gas flow and flashback from reaching the regulator or cylinder. When ordering, check the manufacturer part number and product description to confirm whether arrestors are included. If not specified, they can be ordered separately or as part of a different outfit configuration.
What is Uniweld evacuation pump oil used for?
Uniweld evacuation pump oil is an ISO-46 viscosity grade lubricant for vacuum pumps used in HVAC and refrigeration service. It is formulated for refrigerant evacuation and recovery procedures. The oil maintains pump efficiency during operation and is supplied in clear form. It is available in 1-quart (MPN 42005) and 1-gallon (MPN 42006) containers. This oil is intended for pumps that evacuate refrigerant lines and systems, not for other types of compressors or engines. Always follow the pump manufacturer's recommendations for oil type and change intervals.
What gases are compatible with Uniweld CGA 510 regulators?
CGA 510 connections are typically used for acetylene fuel gas. In the Uniweld outfits listed, the fuel regulator has a CGA 510 connection and is configured for acetylene service. These outfits are designed for oxy-acetylene welding, cutting, brazing, and heating. The CGA 510 standard is specific to acetylene, so these regulators should not be used with other fuel gases unless explicitly rated for them. Always verify gas compatibility before connecting any regulator to a cylinder.
Can 3G Electric supply Uniweld products outside the listed SKUs?
3G Electric lists over 160 Uniweld SKUs and can source additional items from the manufacturer's catalog. If a specific Uniweld regulator, torch, outfit, or accessory is not shown, provide the manufacturer part number or describe the application, and 3G Electric can check availability. The catalog includes flow gauge regulators, torch and regulator outfits, and evacuation pump oil, but Uniweld manufactures a broader range of gas apparatus. For items not stocked, lead times depend on the manufacturer. Contact 3G Electric with the required specifications for a quote.
